Raquel deCosta

Working with Raquel was a wonderful experience. Not only is she extremely talented and professional, Raquel has an exuberant personality and she works tirelessly with you to create the look you want. I was so pleased after working with her the first time, that I hired her to do decorative painting and murals in my home on three separate occasions. For my master bedroom suite, Raquel used a photograph of Positano, Italy as her inspiration to create a wall mural of that picturesque Italian region. Her artistic handwork was so good that every morning when I glance at my bedroom wall I feel like I am waking up on the Amalfi Coast. The mural is perfection!

Plagued with uncertainty and not sure where to begin in starting kitchen and bathroom renovation projects in my home, I contacted Raquel DeCosta to schedule a consultation. After the first meeting, Raquel drew up a design plan. It was the starting point I needed to help me get underway. By working with me every step of the way, Raquel helped me figure out a plan, make decisions and get things done. She was not only interested in my project, but enthusiastic about it too.

 

In addition to helping me choose colors, doors and cabinets and advising me on current trends, Raquel designed floor plans based on my needs; advised me on color combinations; gave me suggestions on the best place to shop for items needed for the renovation; worked with me to find carpenters, plumbers and other trades people who were professional, creative, competent and trustworthy; and painted my renovated space beautifully.

Raquel was invaluable to me throughout the entire renovation process. Since that time, she has returned to consult on and paint other spaces in my home. I am always more than satisfied with the outcome and will definitely recommend her to family and friends. In the future, I plan on calling her whenever I am in need of design help.

Armed with just a couple cans of paint, a few paintbrushes and her imagination, she transformed a tired kids’ bathroom that was last updated in the early 1970s into a funky, colorful bathroom that my daughter and son now love.


After listening to the kids’ likes and dislikes an giving it quite a bit of thought, Raquel selected a palette of vibrant colors and created a circle design that as suitable for both kids.  She used the paint to revive the walls, ceiling and even a Formica-topped vanity that was still very functional but not very attractive.  Raquel also hand picked new eye-catching hardware for the vanity drawers, towel hook and medicine cabinet that really added the finishing touches to the total room transformation.


I would definitely use Raquel DeCosta again for any type of interior or decorative painting job.  Her attention to details, ability to incorporate her customers’ ideas, as well as her creativity and eye for picking just the right colors are what set her apart from so many other painters.  She is a joy to work with and a true professional.


I think she worked wonders with paint by transforming a drab and dreary room into a fun and funky space.  But my kids’ opinions on the new deign are much more telling about the quality of Raquel’s work. They both agreed that seeing the finished room — “this bathroom rocks!”
